Detective League Rules — How to Play Online and Tabletop

A short guide for online play: profession, secret, five questions, guesses, and scoring.

How it works online

The site replaces the screen and notepad: only you see your cards; the server keeps phases and timers in sync.

Speak at the table or in voice chat — the app tracks turns and scores.

Create a room, pick a pack, and share the room code from the home page.

Each player gets a secret profession and secret. Everyone answers the same five questions, hinting at their character so most players can guess — but not everyone.

After answers, players write guesses about others. Cards are revealed and victory points (VP) are scored.

  • 2–6 players
  • 30–60 minutes per session
  • 1+ rounds by group choice

Each round has four phases:

  • Pick profession and secret
  • Answer questions
  • Make guesses
  • Score the round
